So the big sale event went well last night.
I think there were around 25 ladies. All I know is that when I went down to the basement, there were still a lot of clothes there, and that was after around $2oo worth of clothes had been moved ($200 x $.25 per item = 800 items!). All in all I believe it was a fun, and successful evening for all the ladies. Now Cyndie just has to bag up all the leftovers to bring over to the Agape House where they'll be donated ... no small chore. I think that will probably wait a bit until after her scrapbooking weekend ... coming up soon (as in this weekend).
So that's the story around here.

Shaping up for a busy week/weekend
I guess when you have two kids and a socially conscious, volunteering wife, things tend to be busy. Most of the action centers around Cyndie this week as she'll have her second ladies clothing exchange tomorrow night. That means getting the house cleaned up and the basement and craft room set up (with lots of tables) for all the clothes. She expects 20 or more ladies, who will bring clothes to exchange for 25 cents each (with the proceeds going to a local home for girls). Should be busy! Me, I'll be watching the Royals game on the internet ... real socially conscious, huh?
This weekend, basically all day Friday to Sunday, Cyndie will be scrapbooking. That means ... single dadhood for this dad. Which means I'll be on the lookout for some fun activities to do with the kids!
Speaking of the kids, Emma got a little trophy for her speech last weekend. She was very proud of that. I have a picture of her with it, but no promises that it will actually be published here or anywhere else!

Timmy and I hung out on the playground for a bit while we were waiting for Emma's speech.

Weekend
Had a nice weekend.
Friday Ems and I went to a father/daughter thing at a local church ... we had dinner, there was a little skit, and we did some crafts and played games together. Good stuff.
Saturday morning Emma did her speech at the county forensics competition. She was pretty nervous, but did pretty well in the end. Then we headed down to Crystal Lake for the rest of the weekend. We got quite a bit of rain in the end, but kept busy. There was cousin Sally's birthday party, then playing with cousins. We had homemade Chicago style stuffed pizza for dinner ... it was excellent. After the kids went to bed, the adults watched a movie on the new Caspari home theater system.
Sunday was church, a Costco run, and more hanging out. We left pretty early and had a nice relaxing afternoon. We had ice cream at Culvers. The kids saw all the water in the ditches and wanted to play out there, so we took their scooters and played outside in the water a bit. Good stuff, and a fun weekend.
Stay tuned for some pix and videos!

Spring ... and Summer?
Well, we're past the bad weather. We didn't end up with any snow, but I think we may have just skipped through Spring and entered Summer. It's supposed to be up to 86 today. Nice and warm over the weekend, but we're supposed to get lots of rain. Good stuff though.
It's been a fairly busy week. The kids wrapped up swim classes. We're not putting them in any new classes for the moment. We're just going to try to lay low for the rest of the school year, enjoy being outside and being together. Cyndie and I did our date night Wednesday ... dropped the kids with Gow and Laura, then went out to a butcher near town and got really nice steaks (instead of paying for someone to serve us). Steak and fresh guacamole and fresh roles ... that was tasty!
It'll be a full weekend. Tonight Emma and I are going to a Father/Daughter meal/banquet, then tomorrow morning Emma is doing her Dr. Suess speach at a competition in Walworth (at the other end of Geneva Lake). After that we'll head down to my sister's in Crystal Lake for a birthday party and to overnight with fam!
Oh yeah, and we have a good offer on the CA house. We're trying not to get our hopes up since our realtor tells us that these days lots of things fall apart, but we're crossing our fingers!

Whirlwind Weekend
Well, we made it through a busy/full end of the week, and through the weekend, and now, I think, we're back to normal.
Many thanks to the friends and family who helped out with playdates, etc. for Emma and Tim. I actually was able to accomplish quite a bit work-wise as a result! Cyndie was a big help to our friends, in many ways. While they are not by any means past the issues they're dealing with, I think her presence was very helpful during the firestorm of emotion, activity that took place late last week. Thanks for your prayers!
Cyndie got back Saturday at around noon. She was pretty pooped, and still not feeling 100%. She took a long nap that afternoon while the kids and I went to shop for bikes (Emma is getting one for her birthday, and Tim needs one too) and shoes. They came home with shoes, but we'll wait a bit longer for the bikes. That night, Cyndie arranged for a girl she met at the MOPS Spa Night to come give me, her, Gow, and Laura massages! It was a birthday gift for me ... thanks Love!
Sunday was church. It was fun to have Gow play guitar in the worship team. Then Cyndie had arranged for a friend to bring some Indian food up from Chicago (from a restaurant that we really liked when we were down there last summer on vacation), and so we had Indian food for lunch. It was outstanding. It was pretty rainy, so we watched Spy Kids together as a family.
Now we're back in the swing of things ... and it's my birthday ... yeah me!
