A friend of mine at RedPrairie, who is a long time Wisconsin and Michigan resident, told me that in Wisconsin, there is no spring. It goes from snow to mud to green (summer). I'm starting to get the feel for that. The snow is largely gone. The "grass" (brown, both from being dead, and from being covered with dirt/sand/whatever) is showing. However, the skies have been mostly gray, with not even a peek of sunshine. No wonder my friend is thinking about moving to Atlanta or LA! Well, I guess it's just something to get used to in the new location! At least it's beenfairly warm ... upper 30s and low 40s.
Cyndie and I spent some time on Craig's List last night trying to find a spa. We miss having one, so may try to purchase one with tax return money. Unfortunately, it looks like a large hunk of cash will be spent just moving the thing!
Yesterday we let the kids choose some fun activities to do for our Spring Break in Lake Geneva. Timmy chose to go to a movie and to the Arcade. Emma chose to go roller skating and swimming. We'll make them fun little outings during the day next week. The kids are amped!
Adios for now,
Neal

Back to a Monday
We finished up the weekend, and now it's back to the grindstone. Sunday was church, and then a slow afternoon. Cyndie found a good add for a treadmill in the newspaper, so we all drove over to Delavan to check it out. It's definitely not the highest end thing, but we liked it and the price was pretty good so we got it. We stopped at Culvers for ice cream on the way home, which the kids of course enjoyed (and so did Cyndie and I for that matter). Then I went to play Settlers (a game) with some guys from church. I didn't get home until 12:30 ... a bit late for a "school night", but it was fun.
Today is "Library Day" like normal, so we'll eat some early dinner and head over there for an hour or so this evening. The weather is cool (low to mid 30s) and there is supposed to be a half inch of rain tonight. Hopefully it will be rain and not ice or snow!

Lazy days
It's turned into a pretty lazy day (thank goodness).
This morning, Cyndie and mom took a trip to Delavan to hit the local shops (groceries, cloths, thrift store) and returned with all kinds of bounty. Dad and I spent the morning building a new leg for the kitchen table he made for us when we got married. We attached the other end of the table to the end of the island in the kitchen. The idea was that now we have a "table" at counter height which allows us to use the chairs from the old house (that are "short bar stool" height). Any way, that mission was accomplished and now we can use the better chairs and also have a bit more room at the table (since we can also make better use of the island).
Timmy was extremely crabby this morning (most likely because he went to be at 9p last night ... an hour and a half later than usual). Fortunately, he took a good two and a half hour nap this afternoon, so hopefully he'll be chipper for the rest of the day!

The weekend cometh (and is here)
We had a nice get together with some of the young families from church last night. I think that there were six couples (including us). There was a new couple from Japan there too, which was fun. They're new to the area, straight from Tokyo! Talk about culture shock! I think they were happy to hear that we lived in SoCal for a while.
The kids were on their scooters while we were waiting for people to show up. They also enjoyed being the greeters as people came!
Hopefully the weather will stay nice over the weekend. I heard rumors of snow. The game plan today is to make a long term-temporary counter top extension on the island to eat our family meals on using the table top that Dad made for us. Also move the bird feeder off the deck and into the yard so that it really is a bird feeder and not a bird and squirrel feeder! Cyndie's got some errands to run, but that's the extent of the exciting Saturday.

More spring
On my way into work today I saw lots of birds flying in formation to go north. When Cyndie was out with Albert this morning she saw a huge 'V' too. I guess spring is really coming. Yesterday afternoon, Timmy and I got the deck table put together, so once we get some chairs to go with it, we're ready to eat out on the deck.
Since the deck was dry (sans ice skating rink) and the evening was "warm" (40s), the kids were running in and out the sliding glass door and enjoying being outside. I think they're really looking forward to being outside without having to wear so much in the way of boots and coats.

Spring is in the air ...
It is well into the 40s today, and spring is definitely in the air. I spent about a half hour outside this morning taking apart the skating rink that has been on our deck for the last 3 or 4 months. There was a still a good couple of inches of ice left in places, but it was not real difficult to break up. Timmy was a very good ice breaker, so that helped!
Emma has her school field trip to see how maple syrup is made this afternoon. It's her first full day of school. She is very excited.
That's about it for now.

Back and blogging ... part 2
So, I think I e-mailed this to some of you, but perhaps by posting it here on the blog, that will cause me to send out blog items more frequently ....
Apparently this is doctor's week. I have my first check up with the new doctor today, and Cyndie's is tomorrow. I think Mom and Dad have a similar week. My appointment went fine, but the doctor was a little concerned about higher blood pressure for me. So I have a follow up scheduled for a month from now. I guess I need to be hitting the exercise bike more consistently!
Otherwise it's a pretty normal week. Emma had her second swim lesson yesterday, and Timmy today. I took Emma yesterday, and wasn't very impressed with the class, but at least she's in the water and enjoying it. I'm sure she'll learn a lot more at Grandma and Grandpa's pool this summer. Thursday Emma has all day class as the K - 2 group are going on a field trip to Covenant Harbor to see the Maple syrup process. Friday night we're having a "Almost Dating ... Again" group at our house. It's for parents of young kids. We could have 6 people or 16, we're not really sure!
