Tuesday Quickie

Good morning all,

Just a quick update on the goings on from yesterday. It was a pretty normal day in all regards. At work I'm working to get everything wrapped up for my two and a half week vacation. I have a report that I need to complete before I go, but I won't have all the data until Wednesday, so I'll have to turn that around quickly. We got some work done on my car in the evening, so Cyndie spent some time during the day running around to find the parts our mechanic friend needed. Other than that, it was playtime at the park and the normal routine. Cyndie did a lot of laundry for our trip, and the clean clothes were on our bed, so while Cyndie and I were doing dinner prep stuff, the kids "packed". Which meant that the clothes which were on the bed to be folded ended up all over the floor with some of them making it into bags to take on vacation. At least it was fun for the kids! A friend took Cyndie to pick up the car after the kids went to bed while I worked on installing under cabinet lights. I heard voices talking while I was working and just assumed it was Cyndie and Carmen talking. I heard more voices, so I went to investigate. Apparently, Timmy and Emma had decided it really wasn't bed time yet, and so they went in Timmy's room and were playing trains together. It was really quite cute, but not exactly what we want from them after we put them to bed. Hopefully this is not a sign of things to come!

Quick Weekend Write-up

Hey all,

Let's see, what did we do this weekend ...

Friday was my birthday (thanks for the calls and cards from some of you), so I slept in and Cyndie and the kids made breakfast. I took the day off, and we just kind of hung out together ... had a very relaxing day. That night, some friends came over to stay the night with Timmy and Emma and Cyndie and I went away for the night. We stayed at a nice hotel, went out for Indian, watched a couple of movies, slept way in, and did some shopping. All in all, a very nice and relaxing time. We found the Peter Pan outfit for Timmy (see the pix in the picture post from the weekend) that he wore from the time we got home on Saturday, through about 4:30 on Sunday (slept in it, wore it to church, etc). Emma was very excited to make the invitations for her birthday party (to be held on her birthday when we get back from vacation) and pass out some of them to her friends in the neighborhood on Sunday afternoon. Then, in the evening, we had KidWorld at church.

So that was the weekend. This week should go quickly as we get ready for vacation. We're going to try to get a few more things done on the kitchen before we leave (a little painting and the undercabinet lighting), and then on Thursday evening my friend Alberto (from JBU) and his wife are going to come stay with us (they're going to stay in our house after we leave). That will be fun to see them.

Morning "Bow" update

Cyndie and I were getting ready for the day while the kids were upstairs watching their morning movie when who should come down, but Emma with a shoe in her hand.

"Look dad, I tied my shoe all by myself."

Last night she had been practicing with a sting and a piece of wrapping paper. She was very excited. I took a picture that I'll try to remember to upload tonight. Her other comment was that we'd need to get her some new shoes because the only ones she has with laces don't fit any more!

quick update

we're sitting here watching cyndie make dinner and emma learned how to tie a bow. it's all very exciting. she's practicing and hoping that soon she'll be able to do it on her own shoes.

broadcasting from my death bed ...

hey all, i'm sitting here feeling much better with is a huge change from about 4 hours ago. i was sitting in a big group meeting at work in the late afternoon, and started getting a migrane. we stopped the meeting for lunch, so i took some food and went back to my office to see if i could take some migrane medicine to divert the headache, but it got worse. by 1p i was really feeling bad, so i tried to take a nap on my couch. an hour of tossing and turning and cold sweat later i was feeling even worse so i decided to try to drive home. i made it safely, walked in the house, threw up, and fell asleep for three and a half hours. now i'm feeling much better. that was an interesting exerience ... probably the worst migrane i've ever had save the first one i ever got in the middle of the night in college.

on a happier note, the kids and cyndie had a really good time at disneyland. the weather was perfect to keep others away, but nice enough to not be a problem.

Keeping up to date

So as not to fall too far behind, I thought I'd drop an early-ish mid week note. We've got the normal stuff going on here, although I guess you might call it Disney week. Cyndie pass it about to run out (I think at the end of the week), so she thought that she and the kids would hit the Magic Kingdom one more time. So they are making the most of the overcast weather to hopefully get in a lot of rides and stuff. Tomorrow, she and Monique are going on a Moms only trip, so I'm sure they'll have fun with that.

On the kitchen front, we're trying to not slack off to much, so we're planning on working at least an hour each night. Last night, I put up the middle over counter cabinet including wiring the lights inside the glass doors. Cyndie did some painting. I think the plan for tonight is to put up the side over island cabinets and maybe a bit more painting.

Other than that, we're just slowly counting the days until our trip in a week and a half!
