Soccer Recap
Yesterday was Emma's last soccer game and it was a doozy. Grandpa and Grandma D came out to see it, which was fun. The weather was nice for the game, and Emma's ankle is finally about back to normal which I think makes it more fun for her. Anyway, it was a wild one. In a high scoring affair, Emma's team won 5 - 3 ... with one kid scoring all the goals for her team, the crazy part being that he had never scored a goal for the team before! After the game Emma asked if she could play again next year, so I think she enjoyed it.

More Fall
I think we're getting more fall. More leaves are falling, and we had rain yesterday. That cancelled Emma's soccer game. Oh well. We enjoyed relaxing a bit around the house instead. Cyndie and I enjoyed spending some time in the jacuzzi in the rain which was kind of fun in a different sort of way, but also kind of cold! I guess it's just not the same as when you get to go swimming in the rain when you're a kid and you're getting wet all over anyway!
Today has been much nicer, especially in the afternoon we've had some nice sun. I think it's supposed to be in the low 70s and sunny the rest of the week which will be nice. This morning Timmy had a play date, and right now he's at his gymnastics class.
That's about it for the excitement of this midweek!

Swing of things
Yesterday we got back into the weekly swing of things. This week should be a busy one, but then next week should slow down quite a bit as soccer and gymnastics class and Bible studies end.
Today is "just" school for both kids and a bit of shopping for Cyndie, then Emma's soccer game. It's supposed to rain later in the day, so we'll see how that goes down.

The Week Begins
So it's another Monday, and it looks like a busy one. The "barrage" of friends continues with Cole and Olivia from down the street coming over after school until their mom and dad get home from work. Cyndie is doing her second session as the recess monitor at Emma's school, we have art class, and then there are the normal chores around the house and oh, of course working!
We had a nice Saturday/Sunday. Sarah, Ben, and Kristi were here much of the day on Saturday. The kids have all really found their niche with eachother and there is much less conflict/crying/fighting. We ended up going to Pearce's Farm (where Timmy's class had gone a week and a half ago) to play on the hay bale castle and go in the corn maze. We stopped at the Williams Bay part for a half hour on the way home and ran into some friends there. Sunday was church, and then we hung out with some friends for a couple of hours in the after noon. All in all, a fairly routine weekend.
Cyndie and I decided that with it getting colder, and the fall being here, and all, we should probably prioritize our chores so as to make sure that we have our outside projects done before winter comes! So that means that over the next couple of weeks, we want to get the rock that Cyndie found laid out into a patio-ish thing (temporary for the next year or two), get all the wood that's left from the Dragon's Lair stacked nicely and put under a tarp, and get the garage cleaned out and straightened up so that we can put both of the cars in it. Excitement!
On the kid front, it's been really fun to watch Emma rapidly learning to read. It's amazing how quickly that goes when they are spending a full day at school. Timmy has been wanting to play soccer a lot lately which is especially fun for me. He's really pretty darn good at kicking the ball accurately, and his personality is such that he's 100% happy just kicking the ball back and forth for a long time. I think he'll really enjoy being on a team, so we'll probably try for that next spring.

The Days of Friends
Yesterday began a string of two days where we are having lots of friends over. Timmy's friend Joseph (and his mom Leticia who Cyndie knows from MOPS) were over for lunch. They had a great time playing, much of it outside. I think that is the best I ever remember Timmy playing with one of his friends*. They left around 2. Just in time for quiet time.
*By best I mean they played together, did not fight, and did not need much parental guidance.
After quiet time, Emma getting home, and a movie, our friends Rico and Julie and their kids Jasmine and Vivian (the same ages as Emma and Timmy) came over for dinner. We had a really nice time with them, with one of the best parts being that the kids played great together and allowed Cyndie, Julie, Rico and I to just mostly hang out.
We closed the day with a soak in the jacuzzi ... can't beat it!
Today we'll have the cousins with us for much of the day, so I anticipate that Emma and Timmy will be pretty pooped by day's end.

Thursday
This'll be a short one ... not much new is occurring on this Thursday.
Cyndie had MOPS during Timmy's preschool this morning. Her comment was essentially "I think this will be the last year I attend". This stated after she found the speaker who was talking on the different stages kids go through somewhat boring. I guess after you experience most of those stages yourself, some of the luster comes of a talk like that. It's not like we're old pros, but we're not really surprised by many things like that after 6 1/2 years of child rearing!
After MOPS/preschool, Timmy and Cyndie went to get some more free cedar siding for the treehouse. The afternoon held a soccer practice/game for Emma ... this one pretty darn cold, but we were much better prepared than on Tuesday!
For dinner a friend from Northrop Grumman stopped in. It was fun to catch up with him a bit. Now, it's off to the jacuzzi!

Mid week normalcy
Not a whole lot going on today. I'm trying to finish up a project for work by today. Cyndie did some shopping and babysit our friends' (Kaz and Aya) kid Makoto. Timmy has his gymnastics class this afternoon, and then Cyndie has Bible study tonight and I have worship team practice. Wow, that sounds a lot busy than it seemed like it was going to be.
Anyway, that the story for today. More posts if the excitement level in our lives increases.
