Spring Break Run-up

So apparently my family has decided that 6 days off from school (five next week plus the following Monday off) is not sufficient. Cyndie and Emma have created a pre-Spring Break. So last night we "picked" the activities that we'll be doing during Spring Break.

A bit of lead in. Last year we decided that rather than take a "big" trip, we'd do lots of fun smaller stuff around the area. This saved money, helped us get to know our new locale, and allowed us to have a bit more down time. It was a hit! So we're doing this again. Last night was, in sports parlance, the draft. Cyndie and I picked out 8 options for things to do, then the kids each got to choose 2 things and Cyndie and I got to choose one thing. Ladies and gentlemen (drum roll please) ... introducing your Spring ... Break ... Activities:
  • Roller Skating (Emma) - at a local rink
  • Horseback Riding (Emma)
  • Open Jump (Tim) - at a local bounce house place
  • Movie Night with Friends (Tim) - we're going to borrow the projector from church, invite some friends over, and watch a movie with a BIG screen
  • Dancing Horses (Cyndie) - a local show ... we got cheap tickets through the school silent auction
  • Bowling (Neal) - we got a family bowling party coupon from the school silent auction
So there you have it, your Wildwood DeVries spring break activities. Emma has even asked for a Spring Break Kickoff Meal (must be in capitalized words ... this is official you know) on Friday night complete with a request for curry chicken as the main dish!

In other news, last night was the last official league night for bowling. It was fun, but loooong (I think we lasted for 25 or 30 weeks). This morning Emma is doing a speach on Dr. Suess at her school speach competition. I've very proud of her for doing this because she's usually pretty shy about things like that. Cyndie was going to go and video tape it, so we'll see how that went!
