Floors

The latest action happening with the Wildwood DeVries is the readying of the house for new laminate flooring. The last week or so has seen a flurry of getting rid of the pink carpet in the dining/kraft rooms (thanks Papa Lee), and now laying 1/4 OSB (plywood) in those rooms to equalize the height between all the linoleum and where the carpet used to be. It's been more work than expected, but is nearly complete. There are a few other such tasks remaining (like removing a couple of cabinets which are going to be re-arranged when we get a new fridge) and possibly removing the front closet. The actual installation will take place next week (we got a great deal, so decided to go with "them" installing).

In kid news, Emma and Timmy had a great time on Tuesday night at the "Back to School" Hotdog dinner. Basically it's just a chance for the kids to be back (or for Tim, to go for the first time) at the school, to go into their new rooms, see their new teachers, and re-acquaint with classmates they haven't seen for a while. Timmy was excited to learn that several of his classmates from pre-school will be in his class as well as at least one boy from the neighborhood that he knows. It's a good transition time event that will, I think for Timmy specifically, make the first several days go more smoothly.
