We had a nice weekend. Jane got here late Thursday and so the kids mobbed her for the morning on Friday. She left during quiet time to go hang out with the Casparis a bit.
That night we went to a big party that a friend of Cyndie's from MOPS was throwing. It turned out to be huge ... 100+ people with their own private fire works show. It was also fun because most all of the people form the other party we'd been to a week or so ago, were also at this one so I got to know some of them better. The kids had a good time for the most part too. Timmy and I left early with another dad and their younger kids, but Emma and Cyndie stayed for the fireworks.
Saturday we went down to the Casparis to hang out for the day. The big event was the Crystal Lake Fourth of July parade. It was pretty fun and we stayed mostly cool. It was really big ... lasting for about 2 hours. The kids got plenty of candy. Other than that, we mostly just hung out and relaxed.
Yesterday was church and then we had a brunch with Jane, Casparis, and Auntie Karen. Jane left in the early afternoon and Casparis went over to mom and dad's. They're in town for the week as Emma and Sarah go to day camp together.
So now we're into the week. After dropping the girls off this morning, the rest of us went for a walk on the lake trail. It was nice weather ... breezy and overcast, but we bit off a bit more than we could chew and Dave, Amy, and I ended up carrying the kids for the last quarter of the hike. We're pretty pooped now, so will lay low much of the rest of the day!
