Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day everyone. I hope you all relaxed and enjoyed time with friends and/or family. I hope that you also remembered the soldiers past and present who have served our country, some giving their lives!

We had a really fun day as a family. It didn't start horribly well. Late yesterday afternoon, Timmy, who like to do everything that Emma does, followed his sister by throwing up ... apples. Yummy. On our way home from the park in town he started saying his stomach hurt. We weren't sure whether or not to believe him, but we did after he produced proof! He only threw up that one time, and after that he seemed to be pretty much better, but we laid pretty low after that. Over night he got up a bunch, and ended up sleeping with us. The bottom line there was that none of the three of us got a very restful night's sleep.

This morning started with a little work ... we got about an inch of rain from a nice big thunder and lightning storm (possibly part of why Timmy didn't sleep well), so Cyndie and I went out right after we got up to put some weed and feed on the lawn. After that we went into Lake Geneva for the town parade. It was a pretty typical small town Memorial Day parade. The local school marching bands played, there were a few convertibles with various dignitaries. The veterans marched, the fire department was there, etc., etc. Afterward there was a program down by the waterfront that we watched part of. Cathy, you would have been jealous because they had a huge American flag at the top of a extended fire truck ladder ... probably 100 feet in the sky. It was pretty cool. We stopped at the big elementary school playground after that for an hour or so. After lunch we had quiet time ... none too soon for Cyndie and I. We were pooped! Then we worked on the Dragon's Lair a bit ... we got the two assembled platforms in place and as of this writing, a slide is attached and a temporary ladder in place. The kids were having fun on it already! One other thing of note is that Cyndie, great scavenger that she is, lined up a twisty slide for us too. It's still at the house of the folks getting rid of it, but we're excited about that! After dinner, we went on a bike ride.

All in all it was a fun and full day. It was also pretty warm ... in the low 80s with around 75% humidity (much of it from the storm I think). That also probably helped to wipe us out!

So that's it for now ... don't expect another epic post tomorrow!!
